History and Terroir

Clos de Tart, the largest Grand Cru monopole in Burgundy, boasts a remarkable legacy that began in 1141 under the stewardship of the Cistercian nuns of Tart Abbey. With over 900 years of winemaking tradition, it stands as one of the oldest and most esteemed wineries in the region, embodying a rich heritage of excellence.

Farming and Winemaking

Clos de Tart's vineyards, exclusively planted to Pinot Noir, thrive on rocky limestone and marl soils. The monopole is thoughtfully divided into six primary blocks, further segmented into smaller plots. This precise approach to viticulture ensures every vine receives tailored care, enhancing the unique expression of the terroir. Flagship wine is known for its striking balance between power and elegance, marked by concentrated fruit flavors, fine-grained tannins, and a remarkable ability to age gracefully for long periods of time in the cellar.
