History and Terroir
Situated in the heart of Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Château-Figeac is the prestigious estate at the forefront of a family dedicated to elevating the region's reputation. Spanning 54 hectares (133 acres) of land, the estate holds the esteemed First Growth status, with a significant portion left unplanted to maintain a harmonious natural environment and preserve biodiversity. It is regarded as the green sanctuary of Saint-Émilion, boasting a château, exceptional vineyards, and remarkable natural areas. In 2021, Château-Figeac unveiled a new state-of-the-art winery spanning 5,000 m², featuring custom-made stainless steel and wooden vats. This innovative and environmentally conscious facility meets the highest quality standards while also providing visitors with two inviting tasting rooms, epitomizing elegance and precision.
Farming and Winemaking
The vineyards of Château-Figeac are exceptional within the appellation, characterized by three quartz and flint gravel outcrops, deep blue clay subsoil, and a mosaic of plots planted with the three grape varieties that define the wine's identity. Over the past decade, from 2010 to 2020, the Château-Figeac team dedicated themselves to crafting consistently precise wines that showcase the pure essence of the terroir. Each plot and grape variety contributes a unique element to the annual blending process, resulting in a succession of exceptional wines. Despite hot and sunny weather, our 2015, 2018, and 2020 vintages exhibit refreshing qualities. The 2010, 2016, and 2019 wines reinterpret the classic vintages with subtlety and a mineral undertone. The challenging conditions of 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017 allowed the singular gift of the Château-Figeac terroir to shine, producing highly successful wines cherished by devoted enthusiasts.
