History and Terroir

Founded in 1985 by Juan Carlos López de Lacalle, this pioneering Rioja-based producer has led the way in crafting site-specific, single-vineyard wines. In a bold move in 2015, they parted ways with the Rioja appellation, driven by dissatisfaction with the region's limited vinification flexibility and the inconsistent quality among wines carrying the designation.

Farming and Winemaking

The estate cultivates 56 hectares of vines in the Alavesa sub-region of Rioja, focusing primarily on Tempranillo with a smaller proportion of Viura. Committed to organic farming and biodiversity, they emphasize thoughtful winemaking practices, with a restrained approach to oak aging. Their wines, marked by purity and character, offer both immediate pleasure and the potential for extended cellaring.
