Here, stony calcareous soils offer optimal drainage and material low in nutrients, which in turn, forces the vines to work harder. The resulting fruit is concentrated, framed by chalky structuring extract and offers a spine of minerality that cuts through the richness of these sought-after wines. La Romanée is one of the best 1er Crus in Chassagne-Montrachet and it's invariably one the highlights in the portfolio.
