CHÂTEAU MOUTON-ROTHSCHILD

History

Château Mouton Rothschild is a First Growth estate based in the village of Pauillac, found within the larger Médoc region of Bordeaux. Contrary to the other four First Growths, Mouton Rothschild received its designation in 1973 as opposed to 1855. Three years later, the 1970 vintage of the estate’s eponymous wine garnered the highest ranking of all French wines at the famed Judgment of Paris. The estate’s signature art-forward labels are designed by a different artist every year; Picasso and Dalí are amongst the greats who have contributed.

Vineyards

Mouton Rothschild’s 90 hectares of vines are dedicated mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon (more than 80%), with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot rounding out the remainder.
