Prior to his vine purchase in La Landonne, Jean-Michel grew the domaine with the purchase of Les Grandes Places, a 1.4-hectare plot rooted in steep, terraced vineyards in Côte-Rôtie. These vines represent some of Gerin’s oldest holdings, as a number of the plants were first cultivated by his grandfather during the 1920s. All fruit for this wine is hand harvested, macerated for approximately one month, and aged for 22 months in barrique. On the palate, expect a meaty, flavor-packed wine characterized by firm tannins and a spicy, floral-tinged finish.
