Domaine de Montille
The de Montille family implication in the world of wine in Burgundy goes back nearly 300 years. Hubert de Montille revived this historical estate in 1947 and his son, Etienne, became involved in the Domaine in 1983 and gradually prioritized the expression of the terroir in the wines with, among other action, the introduction of organic and biodynamic farming since the 90’s. He believes that the best wines are the ones that express their origins. Through strategic acquisitions of prime parcels over the years, Domaine de Montille is now back to the position it held during its golden age in the mid-19th century.
The Domaine’s most popular reds include the Pommard 1er cru Les Rugiens-Bas, Corton Clos du Roi Grand cru, Volnay Taillepieds 1er cru, Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves, and, of course, the two Malconsorts cuvées, hailing from the vineyard adjacent to the famous “La Tâche.” The Domaine’s top white wines are from Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru Le Cailleret, Corton Charlemagne Grand cru, Meursault 1er cru Les Perrières, and a tiny piece of Chevalier-Montrachet Grand cru.
